  2. Remove bolts (arrows). Remove heat shield for right drive shaft.
  3. Unscrew bolts (arrows), and remove oil supply line (1).
  4. Set piston of respective cylinder to "“bottom dead centre”".
  5. Insert a screwdriver with a shaft length of at least 250 mm into spark plug hole so that it contact piston crown.
  6. Turn crankshaft in direction of engine rotation (arrow) until piston of respective cylinder is at "“BDC”".
  7. Fit guide plate VAS 5161A/32 onto cylinder head and secure with knurled screws VAS 5161/12.
  8. Screw adapterVAS 5161A/35 with seal into the respective glow-plug thread and tighten by hand.
  9. Connect adapter to compressed air supply using a commercially available union and apply pressure continuously.
  10. Insert punch VAS 5161/3A into guide plate. Use a plastic hammer to knock loose the firmly seated valve cotters.
  11. Screw toothed piece VAS 5161/6 with hooking fork VAS 5161/5 into guide plate.
  12. Slide sleeve VAS 5161A/32-1 onto assembly cartridge and insert cartridge into guide plate VAS 5161A/32-2.
  13. Attach pressure fork VAS 5161/2 to toothed piece and press assembly cartridge down.
  14. At the same time, turn knurled screw of assembly cartridge clockwise until tips engage in valve cotters.
  15. Move knurled screw back and forth to press apart valve cotters and capture them in assembly cartridge.
  16. Release pressure fork.
  17. Remove installation cartridge.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.

Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
