806 / Expert EW10J4 — PEUGEOT
806 / Expert EW10J4 on Peugeot: 67 steps, engines EW10J4(RFN), EW10J4(RFR). What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
This covers the cam belt on the Peugeot 806 and Expert with the 2.0 16V EW10J4 petrol engine (RFN and RFR). After removing the battery and box and the ancillary belt, the crankshaft pulley and lower cover come off, the crankshaft is locked with its pin and both camshaft gearwheels are pinned. Do not touch the coolant pump bolts, as the pump is part of the belt path. The new belt goes on, the tensioner is set and tightened, and the crankshaft is turned ten times clockwise before the pins are refitted as a check. The crankshaft gearwheel bolt tightening depends on the washer fitted, steel (gold) or sintered (metallic), so note which one you have before refitting.
🧭 Before you start
Remove the battery, battery box and ancillary belt, then the crankshaft pulley and lower cover. Pin the crankshaft and both camshafts, release the tensioner and remove the belt. Fit the new belt, set and tighten the tensioner, turn the crankshaft ten turns clockwise and refit the pins to check. Tighten the crankshaft gearwheel bolt for the washer type fitted and refit everything else.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
