Emptying fuel tank, front-wheel drive, engine codes CAYD, CAYE, CFHC, CFHE, CFHF, CLCA, CLCB, CFJA — AUDI
Emptying fuel tank, front-wheel drive, engine codes CAYD, CAYE, CFHC, CFHE, CFHF, CLCA, CLCB, CFJA on Audi: 30 steps, engines BDJ, BJB, BLS, BMM.
Workshop procedure for AUDI — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.
🧭 Before you start
Fits: VW Caddy III (2K, 2004–2015)
- Opens: fuel
- Special tools named: VAS 5190
Don't miss
- The fuel pumps are now actuated. The vehicle diagnosis tester shows the progress of the drainage.
- Make a mark (arrow) on hose with insulating tape at distance (a) = 1700 mm from end of extraction hose.
- A ball valve (2) is located at the bottom of the filler neck in the fuel tank (1); it must not be damaged by the extraction hose (3). Therefore push hose into filler neck only as far as marking (arrow).
- Push extraction hose into fuel tank until marking on hose (arrow) coincides with shaft end.
- When no more fuel is extracted, the tank is emptied just enough for the sender flange to be opened without danger. If fuel tank has to be drained fully, proceed as follows.
📋 Procedure
- Unscrew tip (1) from extraction hose of fuel extraction unit VAS 5190.
- Screw fuel extraction adapter VAS 5190 /2 from fuel extraction adapter set VAS 5190 /10 onto extraction hose.
- Observe safety precautions (see the separate procedure).
- Observe rules for cleanliness (see the separate procedure).
- ⚠ Danger of burning from very hot fuel!In extreme cases the fuel lines and the fuel can reach a temperature of 100 °C. Allow the fuel to cool down before disconnecting the lines - danger of scalding. Wear protective gloves. Wear eye protection. Risk of injury due to highly-pressurised fuel!To release pressure in fuel system, place clean cloth around connection and carefully undo connection. — Remove fuel supply line (2). To detach fuel supply line (2), push quick-release coupling downwards and, when doing this, also push release mechanism downwards. Then pull off quick-release coupling with engaged release mechanism upwards. Collect escaping fuel with a cleaning cloth.
- Connect fuel extractor VAS 5190 with adapter for fuel extractor VAS 5190 /3 to fuel supply line.
- Remove cap from fuel filler neck.
- Switch ignition on.
- Connect vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051B or vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5052 A Carry out in the guided function "“Empty fuel system”". [Note: The fuel pumps are now actuated. The vehicle diagnosis tester shows the progress of the drainage.]
- Open shut-off tap on fuel extractor VAS 5190 until fuel tank is emptied.
- When the fuel tank is empty, stop the function to prevent the fuel pump from running »dry«.
- Observe safety precautions (see the separate procedure).
- Observe rules for cleanliness (see the separate procedure).
- ⚠ Secure earth wire of fuel extractor VAS 5190 to a bare metal part of the body. — Remove cone piece (2) from shaft (1) of fuel extractor VAS 5190.
- Make a mark (arrow) on hose with insulating tape at distance (a) = 1700 mm from end of extraction hose.
- Open tank flap.
- Remove cap from fuel filler neck. [Note: A ball valve (2) is located at the bottom of the filler neck in the fuel tank (1); it must not be damaged by the extraction hose (3). Therefore push hose into filler neck only as far as marking (arrow).]
- Screw shaft (1) of fuel extractor VAS 5190 onto fuel tank filler neck.
- Push extraction hose into fuel tank until marking on hose (arrow) coincides with shaft end.
- Drain fuel tank as far as possible.
- Pull extraction hose out carefully. [Note: When no more fuel is extracted, the tank is emptied just enough for the sender flange to be opened without danger. If fuel tank has to be drained fully, proceed as follows.]
- Observe safety precautions (see the separate procedure).
- Observe rules for cleanliness (see the separate procedure).
- Remove fuel tank (see the separate procedure).
- ⚠ Before loosening hose connections, wrap a cloth around the connection. — Release connector (1) and pull it off flange.
- Remove fuel lines (2) and (3). To do this, press release button.
- On vehicles with supplementary heater, open clamp (arrow) and disconnect fuel line.
- Unscrew union nut with union nut tool 3217.
- Raise sender flange.
- Insert suction hose of fuel extractor VAS 5190 as far as possible into fuel tank. Extract fuel.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
