Checking voltage supply and current consumption of fuel supply pump G6, vehicles with 6.0 bar low pressure fuel system — AUDI

Checking voltage supply and current consumption of fuel supply pump G6, vehicles with 6.0 bar low pressure fuel system on Audi: 19 steps, engines BDJ.

Workshop procedure for AUDI — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.

19 steps 28 engine codes

🧭 Before you start

Fits: VW Caddy III (2K, 2004–2015); platform code 2C0

  • Special tools named: VAS 5565
  • Renewed: fuel delivery unit

Don't miss

  • The fuel pump is now actuated for 30 seconds.
  • Pickup clamp of hand-held multimeterV.A.G 1715 can also be connected to red terminal with lettering "“pickup clamp”" of test instrument adapter/DSO (5-pin)VAS 5565.

📋 Procedure

  1. Lower fuel tank .
  2. First check that connector (1) is fitted securely, without pressing catch. The connector can cause a fault if it has not been fitted correctly.
  3. Pull connector (1) off fuel delivery unit flange.
  4. Connect test instrument adapter/DSO (5-pin)VAS 5565 between connector and flange.
  5. Connect hand-held multimeterV.A.G 1526D to contacts (1) and (5) of adapter.

  1. Connect Vehicle diagnosis tester and then carry out Guided function "“Checking electrical fuel pump(s)”". [Note: The fuel pump is now actuated for 30 seconds.]
  2. Read voltage value on hand-held multimeterV.A.G 1526D: specification = battery voltage (- 0.5 V OK).
  3. Check activation of fuel pump relay and wiring for open circuit and short circuit .
  4. Check current consumption of fuel pump. [Note: The battery voltage and the diesel fuel temperature have a great influence on the current draw of the fuel pump. For this reason, measures should be taken to ensure that battery voltage is at least 12.5 V during the check.Depending on the season, make sure that the vehicle is filled with winter diesel if necessary.]
  5. First check that connector (1) is fitted securely, without pressing catch. The connector can cause a fault if it has not been fitted correctly.
  6. Pull connector (1) off fuel delivery unit flange.
  7. Connect test instrument adapter/DSO (5-pin)VAS 5565 to connector and fuel delivery unit.
  8. Connect pick-up clamp (A) to red terminal with lettering "“pick-up clamp”" for test instrument adapter/DSO (5-pin)VAS 5565. [Note: Pickup clamp of hand-held multimeterV.A.G 1715 can also be connected to red terminal with lettering "“pickup clamp”" of test instrument adapter/DSO (5-pin)VAS 5565.]
  9. Switch ignition on.
  10. Connect Vehicle diagnosis tester and then carry out Guided function "“Checking electrical fuel pump(s)”". [Note: The fuel pump is now actuated for 30 seconds.]
  11. Take current draw reading on hand-held multimeterV.A.G 1526D. Specification: at least 8.0 amperes, no more than 14.0 amperes.
  12. Remove fuel delivery unit .
  13. Check that the electrical lines between flange and fuel pump are connected and have continuity.
  14. Renew fuel delivery unit .

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
