E - Check assembly position of rotor on crankshaft — VW
E - Check assembly position of rotor on crankshaft on VW: 14 steps, 2 torque figures. What to remove, what to tighten and to how many Nm, what to check.
Workshop procedure for VW — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.
🧭 Before you start
- Special tools named: feeler gauge
🔩 Torque settings
Values can differ between engine variants — check the code stamped on your block.
| Torque | Fastener / step |
|---|---|
| 10 Nm (7.4 lb-ft) | Thread the flange fastening screws, alternating between them in a cross pattern |
| 5 Nm (3.7 lb-ft) | Install the engine speed sensor (arrow |
ℹ️ Always cross-check the exact figure against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening — a wrong torque can damage the engine. These values are extracted from workshop data and may not cover every variant or revision.
📋 Procedure
- Thread the hexagonal nut (A) until it reaches the end of the threaded spindle.
- Remove both M 6 × 35 mm screws (B) from the engine block.
- Remove the three screws(C) from the flange.
- Remove assembly device.
- Remove the seal lip thrust ring.
- Place the Vernier caliper rod against the crankshaft flange (A) (marked surface).
- Measure with a feeler gauge (A) the distance (a) between the Vernier caliper rod and the rotor.
- Press rotor again.
- Remove assembly device.
- Thread the flange fastening screws, alternating between them in a cross pattern. Tightening torque: 10 Nm. — 10 Nm (7.4 lb-ft)
- Install the engine speed sensor (arrow). Tightening torque: 5 Nm. — 5 Nm (3.7 lb-ft)
- Install the oil crankcase .
- Install the intermediate plate.
- Install the flywheel with new screws.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
