Checking injection timing control range via final control diagnosis — VW
Checking injection timing control range via final control diagnosis on VW: factory workshop procedure for engines ACV, AGX, AHD, AHY.
Workshop procedure for VW — the factory write-up, straight from real workshop data.
📋 Procedure
Checking injection timing control range via final control diagnosis
The control range of the injection timing adjuster can be checked with the aid of final control diagnosis and simultaneously calling-up measured value block 04. To do this the control element for
“commencement of injection valve -N108”
must be activated and then final control diagnosis exited by pressing key
“C”
. Using this procedure, the commencement of injection valve continues to be pulsed so that the control range of the injection timing adjuster can be read with the aid of measured value block 004 (display zone 3).
Note
The individual control elements are activated for 30 seconds only. In the subsequent procedure you must make several entries within this period on the fault reader and must also read off the measured values. Therefore, read through the following steps first and familiarise yourself with the procedure.

Indicated on display:
Read measured value block 4 ->
840 rpm 0.9° BTDC 0.9° BTDC 3%
The displays in display zones 3 and 4 must fluctuate within following control range:
Engine code ACV
Specification: Display zone 3, lower range 1° ATDC…4.8° BTDC, upper range 12.0…17° BTDC
Specification: Display zone 4, lower range 2...5%, upper range 90...95%
The measured values which are displayed vary extensively due to the sluggishness of the fault reader display. Therefore, ensure that the lowest numerical value in display zone 3 lies between 1.0 and 4.8 and the highest between 12.0 and 17, and lowest numerical value in display zone 4 lies between 2 and 5 and the highest value between 90 and 95.
If the specifications are not attained:

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
