Repairing air conditioning system magnetic clutch, Sanden — AUDI
Repairing air conditioning system magnetic clutch, Sanden on Audi: 12 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
Workshop procedure for AUDI — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.
🧭 Before you start
Fits: VW Caddy IV (SA, 2015–2020)
- Timing position: the crankshaft or camshaft is set and locked during this job
- Special tools named: puller, locking pin
📋 Procedure
- Remove hexagon nut.
- ⚠ There are two versions of hexagon nuts. The air conditioning system magnetic clutch N25 can come loose or the thread of the air conditioner compressor can be damaged.Observe torque settings of hexagon nuts. — Release clutch plate carefully with two screwdrivers (A) and remove.
- Position commercially available two-arm puller (A) on shoulder (B) and pull off poly V-belt pulley.
- Remove solenoid.
- Fit solenoid (A) to air conditioner compressor.
- Place locking pin (C) in recess of solenoid (A).
- Redetermine clearance of air conditioning system magnetic clutch N25 after assembly.
- Measure distance between poly V-belt pulley (2) and clutch plate (3) with a depth gauge (1), and note measurement.
- Separate connector (4) on air conditioner compressor.
- Attach connector (4) to positive terminal of vehicle battery using an auxiliary cable.
- Measure distance between poly V-belt pulley (2) and clutch plate (3) with a depth gauge (1), and note measurement.
- Determine clearance. [Note: The clearance must lie within the specified tolerances over the complete circumference. The clearance can also be measured when the air conditioner compressor is installed. If the clearance is outside of the specifications, remove the coupling disc and adjust the clearance by removing or adding spacers.]

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
