Workshop procedure for AUDI — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.
🧭 Before you start
Fits: Audi Q5 (8R, 2008–2017)
- Opens: refrigerant (A/C)
- Special tools named: VAS 6131/11, VAS 6131/13, VAS 6131/10, 5 mm ring spanner
Don't miss
- Carefully pull engine cover panel off retaining pins one after the other (arrows). Do not jerk engine cover panel away, and do not try to pull on one side only.
- Collect drained coolant in a clean container for disposal.
- Disregard (item 2).
- Danger of damage to refrigerant lines and hoses.Do NOT stretch, kink or bend refrigerant lines and hoses. — Remove bolt (2), disconnect refrigerant line from air conditioner compressor and move to one side.
- Disregard (items 1, 3).
🔩 Torque settings
Values can differ between engine variants — check the code stamped on your block.
| Torque | Fastener / step |
|---|---|
| 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) | Tighten base plates for support elements |
ℹ️ Always cross-check the exact figure against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening — a wrong torque can damage the engine. These values are extracted from workshop data and may not cover every variant or revision.

📋 Procedure
- ⚠ Make sure the vehicle cannot tip over when the engine is removed.Secure the vehicle, to do so, the luggage compartment must be empty. The fuel system operates at extremely high pressure. This can cause injury. The fuel pressure in the high-pressure section of the injection system must be reduced to a residual pressure prior to opening the system. — Set front wheels to straight-ahead position.
- ⚠ Electronic components are susceptible to damage.Observe notes on procedure for disconnecting the battery. — Switch off ignition and take out ignition key.
- Disconnect earth wire (arrow) from battery terminal Electrical system27Battery, Disconnecting and connecting battery.
- Discharge refrigerant circuit Heating, air conditioning87Refrigerant circuit.
- Remove lock carrier cover (3)General body repairs, exterior50Lock carrier.
- Carefully pull engine cover panel off retaining pins one after the other (arrows). Do not jerk engine cover panel away, and do not try to pull on one side only.
- ⚠ Hot steam/hot coolant can escape - risk of scalding. The cooling system is under pressure when the engine is hot.To allow pressure to dissipate, cover filler cap on coolant expansion tank with cloth and open carefully. — Open filler cap on coolant expansion tank.
- Remove both front wheels.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
