Removing and installing line for clutch mechanism — AUDI

Removing and installing line for clutch mechanism on Audi: 17 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

This covers the hydraulic line between clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder on the platform codes listed below, whether it is a pipe/hose assembly or a plastic line. Access comes from above: the air filter housing and then the battery, battery cover and carrier have to come out. The supply hose to the master cylinder is clamped off, and every joint is a push-fit connection held by a securing clip, so no unions are undone. The line comes off the master cylinder, the bleeder comes off the slave cylinder, and the line is separated from the bleeder. Two things matter: once the line is open, the clutch pedal must not be touched, and every connection goes back with a new seal and a pull test before the system is bled.

17 steps

🧭 Before you start

Remove the air filter housing and battery with its carrier, then clamp off the master cylinder supply hose. Release the clips and pull the line off the master cylinder, the bleeder off the slave cylinder and the line off the bleeder, capping the open ends. Refit each connection with a new seal until the clip clicks, pull on it to confirm, bleed the clutch and refit battery and air filter housing.

Fits: VW Caddy III (2K, 2004–2015); platform code 2C0

  • Opens: brake fluid, clutch fluid

Don't miss

  • Do not press the clutch pedal once the line has been disconnected from the slave cylinder.
  • Fit a new seal at every push-fit connection: master cylinder, bleeder and slave cylinder.
  • Each clip must engage audibly; then pull on the line to prove it is seated.
  • Keep brake fluid off the longitudinal member and gearbox; lay a lint-free cloth under the slave cylinder.
  • Clamp the supply hose with hose clamp 3094 before opening anything to limit fluid loss.
  • Bleed the clutch mechanism afterwards; the pedal will not work properly with air in the line.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
