Removing and installing clutch position sender G476 — AUDI
Removing and installing clutch position sender G476 on Audi: 12 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
The clutch position sender G476 clips onto the clutch master cylinder, and on the platform codes listed below you reach it by clearing the air filter housing and then the battery with its cover and carrier. Nothing about the sender itself is difficult; the care is all in the hydraulics beside it. The supply hose to the master cylinder is clamped off with hose clamps rated up to 25 mm, the securing clip is released with a screwdriver and the pipe or hose assembly pulled off, the connector separated and the sender unclipped. The brake fluid that drips must not land on the longitudinal member or the gearbox, so a lint-free cloth goes under the slave cylinder first. On refitting the line gets a new seal and must click home audibly, and the clutch is bled before the battery goes back.
🧭 Before you start
Remove the air filter housing, then the battery, battery cover and carrier, with a lint-free cloth under the clutch slave cylinder. Clamp the supply hose to the clutch master cylinder, release the securing clip and pull the pipe or hose assembly off, separate the connector and unclip the sender from the master cylinder. Clip the line back on with a new seal until the clip engages audibly and pull on it to check. Remove the hose clamps, reshape the supply hose if needed, bleed the clutch system, then refit the battery, carrier and air filter housing.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
