📋 Procedure

  1. ⚠ High voltage can cause fatal injury.Danger of severe or fatal injuries from electric shock. The high-voltage system must be de-energised by a suitably qualified person (an Audi high-voltage technician). — De-energise high-voltage system .
  2. Drain coolant Draining coolant system - cooling components for high-voltage system (front).
  3. Remove engine cover panel .
  4. Release hose clip (1) and detach air hose.
  5. Remove bolt (2) on both sides.

  1. Unclip air duct at lock carrier and detach.
  2. If fitted, remove support (6); to do so, remove nut (5) and bolt (7).
  3. Unplug electrical connector (2).
  4. Disconnect high-voltage wires (1, 3, 4).
  5. Pull out locking element (3)(arrow A) to unplug electrical connector.
  6. Press release tab (4) in direction of (arrow B) and pull connector (1) approx. 5 mm to next release level.
  7. Press release catch (5) in direction of (arrow D) and pull connector off connector mounting (2)(arrow C).
  8. Move wiring clear.
  9. Release hose clips (1) and disconnect coolant hoses.
  10. Remove bolts (arrows). [Note: The bolt (bottom right) on the charging unit for high-voltage battery is not fitted on all vehicles.]
  11. Lift out charging unit for high-voltage battery (2).
  12. ⚠ Danger of short circuit in the high-voltage battery if coolant leaks into the battery. The high-voltage battery cannot detect coolant leaking into the battery. If the coolant level in the expansion tank drops due to a leak and the warning lamp lights up, do NOT add any coolant until the cause of the leak has been found and eliminated. The sealing tag on the filler cap of the coolant expansion tank prevents the customer from adding coolant to the high-voltage cooling circuit independently. The notice on the filler cap provides an additional warning of the danger involved. The components of the power and control electronics for electric drive, charging unit for high-voltage battery, high-voltage heater and electric drive motor are also connected into the engine cooling system. — Fill up with coolant .
  13. Attach sealing tag to filler cap on coolant expansion tank .
  14. ⚠ High voltage can cause fatal injury.Danger of severe or fatal injuries from electric shock. The high-voltage system must be re-energised by a suitably qualified person (an Audi high-voltage technician). — Re-energise high-voltage system .

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.

Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
