Removing and installing air recirculation flap control motor V113 - automatically controlled air conditioner — AUDI
Removing and installing air recirculation flap control motor V113 - automatically controlled air conditioner on Audi: 17 steps, 1 torque figure.
Replacing the air recirculation flap control motor V113 on cars with automatically controlled air conditioning, including the Audi Q3 (8U, 2011–2018) and platform code 84, is a glove box job. Once the glove box is out, the motor is unbolted and drawn off the cam plate shaft, its connector marked and unplugged. The catch is in the parts: control motor versions look identical and are told apart only by part number, so check the new one matches before installing and keep the old one until the new unit works. While the motor is off, turn the cam plate by hand to confirm the recirculation and fresh air flaps move freely and close fully. The motor fits the shaft in only one position, and its bolts take just 1 Nm.
🧭 Before you start
Remove the glove box, undo the bolts and detach the motor from the cam plate shaft, then mark and unplug the connector. Turn the cam plate to check flap operation and full closure. Plug in the connector, position the motor so the shaft engages its socket and tighten the bolts to 1 Nm. Route the wiring clear of moving parts, refit the glove box, clear the event memory and run the basic setting and final control diagnosis.
Fits: Audi Q3 (8U, 2011–2018); platform code 84
Don't miss
- Control motor versions differ only by part number; confirm the correct version before fitting.
- Check the recirculation and fresh air flaps move freely and close completely via the cam plate.
- Motor fits the shaft in one position only; turn the socket if they do not line up.
- Bolts are tightened to just 1 Nm.
- Clear the event memory, then run basic setting and final control diagnosis.

🔩 Torque settings
Values can differ between engine variants — check the code stamped on your block.
| Torque | Fastener / step |
|---|---|
| 1 Nm (0.7 lb-ft) | Tighten bolts (B) to specified torque |
ℹ️ Always cross-check the exact figure against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening — a wrong torque can damage the engine. These values are extracted from workshop data and may not cover every variant or revision.
📋 Procedure
- ⚠ Problems occur with the operation of the air conditioner (heater) if incorrect component versions have been installed. The different control motor versions can only be distinguished from the outside by their part numbers. If possible, only remove a control motor if the new component is available for installation. Before installing a control motor, check carefully to ensure that the correct version is being installed. If possible, only dispose of the removed components once you have checked that the newly installed components function correctly. — Observe general notes .
- Remove glove box General body repairs, interior68Shelves / trim panels; Removing and installing glove box.
- Remove bolts (B).
- Detach control motor (A) from shaft (F) of cam plate for air recirculation flap.
- Mark electrical connector and control motor.
- Unplug electrical connector (C).
- If there are problems due to moisture in the passenger compartment, also check the air recirculation flap (must close completely).
- Check actuation and operation of air recirculation flap (C) and fresh air flap (B) by turning cam plate (A). When doing so, make sure lugs attached to levers are correctly seated in grooves of cam plate (A).
- The mounting (F) for the control motor (A) can only be fitted onto the shaft (E) of the air recirculation flap in one position. [Note: If the actuator socket and shaft are not opposite one another, the socket in the control motor must be turned. Observe general notes .]
- Plug in electrical connector (A).
- Position control motor on air distribution box. The shaft of the air flow flap must engage in the actuator socket.
- Tighten bolts (B) to specified torque (tightening torque: 1 Nm). — 1 Nm (0.7 lb-ft)
- Route wiring harness (G) so that it cannot come into contact with moving components (e.g. control motor lever).
- Install glove box General body repairs, interior68Shelves / trim panels; Removing and installing glove box.
- Read out event memory and delete any entries displayed.
- Perform basic setting.
- Perform final control diagnosis.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
