Checking Lambda probes and Lambda control before catalytic converter on Audi: 44 steps, engines AJK, ARE, AZA, BES.

Workshop procedure for AUDI — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.

44 steps 4 engine codes

🧭 Before you start

Fits: Audi A6 C5 (4B)

  • Special tools named: V.A.G 1598/31
  • Renewed: engine control unit removing

Don't miss

  • Connect vehicle diagnostic, testing and information systemVAS 5051 A and select vehicle system "“01 - Engine electronics”" from list. Engine must be idling.
  • During basic setting, the activated charcoal filter system solenoid valve N80 is closed and the air conditioner compressor shut off.
  • The specification is attained more quickly if the engine speed is increased. The "“Lambda probe status”" display indicates the status of the Lambda control and Lambda probes.
  • Do not continue testing until display in zones (1) and (3) has reached "“111”" at least once.
  • Fitting locations of connectors .

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.

Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
