Tasks: the expansion valve atomises the influent refrigerant and regulates the flow so that the vapour, depending on heat transport, becomes a gas only upon reaching the outlet of the evaporator
Identification: the expansion valves for R134a refrigerant circuits are marked with a green sticker.

Functions of receiver with dryer
The receiver collects the liquid droplets and directs them in a continuous stream to the expansion valve. Moisture which has entered the refrigerant circuit during assembly is collected by the dryer in the receiver.
Note
Under certain conditions, it is not necessary to renew the receiver with dryer every time that the refrigerant circuit is opened. Refer to the workshop information under Heating, ventilation, air conditioning system; Air conditioning system with refrigerant R134a

Note
The flanges of the pipes are held together by spring pressure. If the spring is stretched with the release tool it is possible to pull the pipes apart.

WARNING
Danger from escaping pressurised refrigerant!
Freezing of skin and other body parts.
Extract refrigerant and then immediately open refrigerant circuit.
If the refrigerant was extracted more than 10 minutes before the opening of refrigerant circuit, the refrigerant must be extracted again. The pressure in the circuit will increase due to subsequent evaporation.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
