Workshop procedure for VW — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.
🧭 Before you start
Fits: VW Touareg II (7P, 2010–2018)
Don't miss
- Do not damage insulation of individual lines. — Cut protective hose (2) back to just before retaining clip (1).
- Ensure electrical connector is pushed fully onto stop and engages audibly.
- If airbag warning lamp K75 indicates a fault following installation, event memory must be read, deleted and read again.
🔩 Torque settings
Values can differ between engine variants — check the code stamped on your block.
| Torque | Fastener / step |
|---|---|
| 0.3 Nm (0.2 lb-ft) | Unscrew bolt (3 |
ℹ️ Always cross-check the exact figure against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening — a wrong torque can damage the engine. These values are extracted from workshop data and may not cover every variant or revision.
📋 Procedure
- ⚠ Refer to general safety precautions when working on airbag and seat occupied recognition for front passenger airbag deactivation .Before handling pyrotechnical components (e.g. separating the electrical connector), the person handling them must "“electrically discharge”" himself. To do this e.g. briefly touch the door striker plate. — Remove front passenger seat .
- Unscrew bolt (3) (0.3 Nm) and remove seat position sensor (4) from seat pan frame. — 0.3 Nm (0.2 lb-ft)
- ⚠ Do not damage insulation of individual lines. — Cut protective hose (2) back to just before retaining clip (1).
- At points marked (arrow A) and (arrow B), cut both electrical lines off to approx. 1/3 to 2/3 of free line length.
- ⚠ Refer to general safety precautions when working on airbag .Before handling pyrotechnical components (e.g. connecting the electrical connector), the person handling them must "“electrically discharge”" himself. To do this e.g. briefly touch the door striker plate. — Cut off electrical lines on new seat position sensor to same length as on old seat position sensor.
- Connect electrical lines with crimped connectors (arrow A) and (arrow B)Electrical system; General information97.
- Wrap wiring harness over its entire length, from clip to seat position sensor, with fibre-reinforced adhesive tape.
- Install seat position sensor, making sure that hook (arrow C) of seat position sensor is inserted into seat pan frame. [Note: Ensure electrical connector is pushed fully onto stop and engages audibly.]
- ⚠ Battery must be connected with ignition switched on. If pyrotechnical components (e.g. airbag, seat belt tensioners) are repaired incorrectly, undesired triggering may occur after connecting battery. Ensure that nobody is in vehicle when connecting battery. — Reconnect battery ground cable with ignition switched on Electrical system27. [Note: If airbag warning lamp K75 indicates a fault following installation, event memory must be read, deleted and read again.]

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
