📋 Procedure
Removing and installing rain sensor
Note
The
rain sensor
G213
is installed in the mirror base of the interior mirror.
Removing:
Switch off ignition and all electrical loads, and pull out ignition key.
Release and disconnect connector on rain sensor.
Release spring clips on both sides of rain sensor
arrow
and remove rain sensor from holder.
Note
If the rain sensor is removed from its holder for repair purposes, the adhesive pad must be assumed to be damaged and must therefore be replaced.
Installing:
Install in the reverse order of removal. When doing this, note the following:
Before installing a new rain sensor, remove the protective film
arrow
from the rain sensor
A
. Figure
B
shows a rain sensor which is ready for attachment of the adhesive pad.
Moisten the surface of the new adhesive pad completely with a thin film of isopropanol.
Note
We recommend using a pipette to moisten the surface of the adhesive pad with isopropanol.
Only moisten the surface of the adhesive pad with a thin film of isopropanol.
Caution
Danger of fire!
Isopropanol is highly inflammable.
Smoking and naked lights are prohibited during the installation procedure.
In order to prevent dirt getting onto the adhesive pad, install the rain sensor into its holder on the windscreen immediately after moistening the adhesive pad. To prevent bubbles forming between the adhesive pad and the windscreen when the rain sensor is being mounted in place, the rain sensor must be inserted into the holder in such a way that only one point on its circumference initially comes into contact with the windscreen.
Insert rain sensor with moistened adhesive pad into holder on windscreen in such a way that only the pads outer edge initially touches the windscreen.
Now apply slight pressure in order to press the rain sensor completely into its holder.
Note
At the stage of the bonding process, it is still possible to make slight corrections to the position of the rain sensor in the holder.
When correcting position, ensure that no air bubbles are formed between the adhesive pad and the inside of the windscreen.
If an air bubble is formed, increase the pressure when pressing the rain sensor into the holder.
Maintain light pressure on the rain sensor and wait for approx. 3 minutes until the isopropanol between the adhesive pad and the windscreen has evaporated completely.
Check the adhesive side of the rain sensor for air bubbles from outside the vehicle.
Air bubbles between the adhesive pad and the inside of the windscreen are not permitted.
Remainder of installation is carried out in reverse order of removal.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
