Workshop procedure for VW — the factory write-up, straight from real workshop data.
📋 Procedure
Notes:
The part number for the complete Radio navigation system is printed on a sticker on the radio/navigation system housing!
If an RNS unit from a vehicle is fitted into a different vehicle, it is essential that the part number of the replacement unit is the same as the unit previously installed. Otherwise faults will occur with the navigation as the turn angle sensor adjustment in the RNS unit will not be compatible for the vehicle.
If the RNS unit is replaced by a new part or exchange part the new unit is coded ex factory with the setting "with control unit for traffic information". If the vehicle has no traffic information control unit, the fault "00481" is set on these vehicles. Please select on these vehicles the setting "without control unit for traffic information" via the adaption function, Adaption => Page
01-97
.
Note:
For new units, adaption of traffic information control unit is performed via the navigation system coding, => Coding navigation system, => Page
01-79
.
If the radio navigation unit is renewed or replaced, it is possible to adapt the impulse rate of the ABS wheel speed sensors and the tyre circumference to improve accuracy of the system. Adapting components, navigation system => Page

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
