Removing and installing radiator and low-temperature cooler (Polo) — VW
Removing and installing radiator and low-temperature cooler (Polo) on VW: 19 steps, engines CBZA, CBZB, CBZC.
Taking the radiator and the low-temperature cooler out of a Polo 6R 2009–2014 with CBZA, CBZB or CBZC engines. The pair come out downwards as one unit, which means the front end has to be opened up: noise insulation, coolant hoses and fan cowling first, then the front bumper cover and the lock carrier moved into its service position. The condenser stays on the car with the refrigerant lines connected; it is unbolted, tied to the lock carrier and left hanging while the coolers drop out. The job goes smoothly when the air conditioning circuit is never opened and the cowling hoses are freed from their guides before anything is forced.
🧭 Before you start
Remove the noise insulation, pull off the coolant hoses and unplug the fan connector, then free the hose from the cowling guides and lift the cowling out downwards. Detach the upper hoses from the radiator and charge air cooler, remove the bumper cover and put the lock carrier in service position. Lift the radiator out of its lower mountings, remove the side support, release the condenser and tie it to the lock carrier, then lower the radiator and low-temperature cooler out and separate them.
Fits: VW Polo 6R (2009–2014)
Don't miss
- Secure the condenser to the lock carrier with cable ties; the refrigerant circuit stays closed.
- Release the coolant hose from the cowling guides before lifting the cowling out.
- Check electrical connections and harness routing before closing up.
- Refill and bleed the cooling system afterwards, as general workshop practice.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
