Checking fuel delivery rate, engine codes BSE, BSF on Audi: 29 steps, engines BCA, BGU, BSE, BSF. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
Workshop procedure for AUDI — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.
🧭 Before you start
Fits: VW Caddy III (2K, 2004–2015); platform code 2C0
- Special tools named: VAS 5565, V.A.G 1348/3A
- Renewed: fuel filter, fuel delivery unit
Don't miss
- This step serves only to have the fuel pump running when the engine is stopped.Delivery rate of fuel pump must be measured at 4 bar. Check fuel pressure before measuring fuel delivery rate.
- Press in securing ring to release fuel line.
- Make sure that drain tap is closed and shut-off taps are open.
- Operate remote controlV.A.G 1348/3A. While doing so, slowly close shut-off tap (A) until a pressure of 4 bar is displayed on pressure gauge. From this point on do not move position of shut-off tap.

📋 Procedure
- Remove bench seat 72Second row seats; Rear seats; Removing and installing bench seat.
- Remove cover of fuel delivery unit.
- First check that the connector (arrow) is fitted securely by pulling connector without pressing catch. The connector can cause a fault if it has not been fitted correctly.
- Pull off connector.
- Check contacts on connector and on fuel delivery unit for damage.
- Connect test instrument adapter/DSO (5-pin)VAS 5565 to connector and fuel delivery unit.
- Connect remote controlV.A.G 1348/3A to test instrument adapter/DSO (5-pin)VAS 5565 and to battery positive (+). [Note: This step serves only to have the fuel pump running when the engine is stopped.Delivery rate of fuel pump must be measured at 4 bar. Check fuel pressure before measuring fuel delivery rate.]
- ⚠ Fuel supply line is pressurised. Wear eye protection and protective clothing to avoid eye injuries and skin contact. Before loosening hose connections, wrap a cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully pulling hose off connection. — Pull the return line (1) off the fuel pressure regulator. [Note: Press in securing ring to release fuel line.]
- Connect adapterVAS 6550/1 to fuel pressure regulator. Hold end of adapter in measuring container.
- Operate remote control V.A.G 1348/3A for approx. 5 seconds to fill fuel filter.
- Drain measuring container.
- The quantity of fuel delivered by the fuel pump is dependant on the voltage. Therefore also connect multimeterV.A.G 1715 to contacts (1 and 5) of 5-pin test instrument/DSO adapterVAS 5565.
- Operate remote control for 30 seconds while simultaneously measuring battery voltage.
- Compare delivered quantity of fuel with specification.
- Check supply line to filter for possible restrictions (kinks) or blockages.
- Remove cap from fuel filler neck and repeat check. If fuel delivery rate is now reached, check fuel tank breather.
- Check fuel filter, proceeding as follows:
- ⚠ Fuel supply line is pressurised. Wear eye protection and protective clothing to avoid eye injuries and skin contact. Before loosening hose connections, wrap a cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully pulling hose off connection. — Pull fuel supply line (arrow) off fuel filter.
- Connect pressure testerVAS 6550 to fuel supply line with adapterVAS 6550/1. Hold adapterVAS 6550/2 in a measuring container.
- Drain measuring container.
- Repeat delivery rate check.
- Renew fuel filter.
- Remove fuel delivery unit and check filter strainer for dirt.
- Renew fuel delivery unit .
- Reconnect all disconnected fuel lines.
- Bleeding fuel system .
- Check current consumption of fuel pump .

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
