Removing and installing lower B-pillar trim: VW CC

Step-by-step removing and installing lower B-pillar trim for the VW CC: 8 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

Lower B-pillar trim on the VW CC (2012–2017, platform 358) is a clip-and-seal job, and the trick is the order in which things come off. The upper B-pillar trim is detached first, then the sill panel moulding has to be freed along its length: out of the retainers at the front door, off the mountings at the B-pillar, and out of the retainers at the front of the rear door. Only then will the lower trim pull out of the door seal beading at its sides and inwards off the body mountings. Cars with an interior monitoring system have the switch for deactivating the monitor built into this trim, so the ignition goes off and the harness is unplugged before the panel is lifted away. Refitting is the reverse.

8 steps

🧭 Before you start

Access is the upper B-pillar trim and the sill moulding, which has to be released from its retainers at the front door, the B-pillar and the rear door before the lower trim can move. The trim itself is pulled out of the door seal beading on both sides and then inwards off the body mountings. On cars with interior monitoring the switch wiring is disconnected with the ignition off. Installation is in reverse order.

Fits: VW CC (358, 2012–2017)

Don't miss

  • Upper B-pillar trim comes off first; the lower trim cannot be released under it.
  • Free the sill moulding at the front door, the B-pillar and the rear door before pulling.
  • Interior monitoring switch E267: ignition off and harness unplugged before the trim comes away.
  • Pull the trim inwards, not downwards, so the body clips release cleanly.
  • Inspect each clip before refitting; a cracked clip rattles later.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
