Connect turbocharger tester V.A.G 1397 or V.A.G 1397 A (test connection II) between fuel pressure regulator and intake manifold.
Open turbocharger tester V.A.G 1397 cut-off valve or select measuring range II of turbocharger tester V.A.G 1397 A.
Start engine and run at idling speed.
Pull connector off CO potentiometer and coolant temperature sender (blue).
Fully open throttle abruptly. As soon as a charge pressure of
at least 0.6 bar
is attained whilst engine is revving-up, the rpm must periodically rise and drop back (engine hunts).

If the minimum charge pressure is not attained:

Clamp-off hose between idling stabilization valve and by-pass pipe with hose clamp 3094.
Repeat charge pressure check.

If the minimum charge pressure is now attained:

Replace idling stabilization valve:

Servicing injection part

If the minimum charge pressure is again not attained:

Checking by-pass flap adjustment:

=> Repair group 24; Digifant injection and ignition system; Servicing injection part

If the charge air system is free of leaks and the by-pass flap adjustment OK.:

Replace G-charger => Page

Attention!
Before replacing the G-charger, observe notes on pagewithoutfail.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.

Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
