200, 25, Streetwise L-series FIP belt — ROVER

200, 25, Streetwise L-series FIP belt on Rover: 49 steps, engines 20T2N, 20T2R. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

This covers the fuel injection pump drive belt on the Rover 200, 25 and Streetwise with the L-series 2.0 diesel, engine codes 20T2N and 20T2R. Note the audio security code before disconnecting the battery. The engine acoustic cover, air filter and belt covers come off, along with the vibration damper where fitted. The crankshaft and injection pump are held with their locking tools, the gearwheel bolts slackened, and the tensioner locked in its extended position before the belt is changed. What decides the job is the check afterwards: rotate the engine two turns by hand, refit every locking tool and confirm the timing marks, repeating if they are out.

🧭 Before you start

Remove the acoustic cover, air filter and covers, and the vibration damper if fitted. Fit the crankshaft and injection pump locking tools, slacken the gearwheel bolts and tensioner, then remove the belt. Fit the new belt with the tensioner locked extended, then release it, tighten up and remove the locking tools. Rotate the engine two turns by hand, refit all locking tools and check the timing marks before refitting the damper, covers and air filter.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
