Note:
The Digifant control unit opens the idling speed stabilisation valve slightly more if voltage is supplied to pin 39 of the Digifant control unit by the air conditioner. This is the case if:
the AC button is pressed on a manual air conditioner;
a higher cooling capacity or higher heating capacity is requested from a fully automatically controlled air conditioner system.
Special tools, testers and auxiliary equipment required
Hand-held multimeter V.A.G 1526 or V.A.G 1526 A
Adapter set V.A.G 1594 A
Test box V.A.G 1598/18
With the ignition switched off, connect test box V.A.G 1598/18 to connector for engine control unit => Page
24-16
.
Set hand-held multimeter V.A.G 1526 to voltage measuring range (20 V direct current) and connect to engine earth and contact 39 and 42 on connector using test leads from V.A.G 1594 A.
Switch the ignition on.
Switch off air conditioner.
Specification: Less than 1.5 V
Switch on air conditioner system:
Manually controlled air conditioner: Press the "AC" button.
Fully automatically controlled air conditioner Press the "AUTO" button, set the temperature to "LO" and blower speed to "HI".
Specification: Greater than 8 V
If the specified values are not obtained:
Test the wiring connection between contact 39 of the connector of the Digifant control unit and the air conditioner switch -E30 (manual air conditioner) or the operating and display unit -E87 (fully automatic air conditioner) for open circuit and short circuit according to the current flow diagram.
If the wiring connection is OK, test the air conditioner system:

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
