Removing and installing side window with air intake vent — AUDI

Removing and installing side window with air intake vent on Audi: 11 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

Taking out the fixed side window that carries the air intake vent is done from inside on vans with the 70-series platform codes listed below. Most of the time goes into trim: depending on equipment, seats or bench seats and the loading or bed board come out, followed by the rear roof pillar trim, the upper B-pillar trim and C-pillar trim on the sliding door side, the D-pillar trim, and on vehicles with passenger compartment ventilation or air conditioning, the moulded rear side panel trim. Then the electrical connector is separated, the air duct swung out of the intake and pulled down out of the headliner, the intake duct unbolted, and the window freed by its hexagon nuts. Keeping trim clips intact and the duct seated properly decides how quiet it is afterwards.

11 steps

🧭 Before you start

Remove seats and loading board as needed, then the roof pillar, B-, C- and D-pillar trims and, where fitted, the moulded side panel trim on the sliding door side. Disconnect the connector, swing the air duct out of the intake and pull it down from the headliner, remove the intake duct, then undo the hexagon nuts and lift the window out. Refit in reverse.

Fits: platform codes 70A, 70B, 70C, 70E, 70H, 70J, 70K, 70L, 70M

Don't miss

  • Trim removal depends on equipment; vans with ventilation or air conditioning have the extra moulded panel.
  • Separate electrical connector (1) before moving the air duct.
  • Lift the duct before swinging it out of the air suction intake, then pull down from the headliner.
  • Have a helper hold the glass outside while the last hexagon nuts come off; standard practice for fixed glass.
  • Seat the air duct fully in the intake on refit to avoid whistles and leaks.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
