Operational check of the sender
Read off the intake air temperature value in display field 4.
Remove the intake air temperature sender (G42) -1-.
Note down the intake air temperature value in display field 4.
Spray the sender with commercially available cold spray and observe the temperature value. The temperature value must drop.
Press the ⇒key.
Press the keys 0 and 6 for the function "Quit output" and confirm the input using the Q key.
Switch the ignition off.
If the temperature value in display field 4 does not drop:
Connect test box V.A.G 1598/26 => Page
01-71
.
Pull 2-pin plug off intake air temperature sender -arrow-.
Check wires between test box and 2-pin plug for open circuit using current flow diagram.

Setpoint value: ∞ω
Also check wire for short circuit to battery positive.
Setpoint value: ∞
If no fault in the cables is discovered:
Check the resistance at the intake air temperature sender (G42) between contacts 1+2; setpoint values => table.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
