Don't miss
- Lubricate O-rings lightly with refrigerant oil before installing Refrigerant circuit seals.
- After attaching, check routing of refrigerant lines. They must be inserted tension-free in the brackets provided and should not make contact with other components.
📋 Procedure
- Remove the rear expansion valve .
- Remove nuts (B).
- Carefully prise bracket (D) from the centre tunnel while carefully removing the adhesive.
- Remove refrigerant lines (A, C) from the connection of the refrigerant pipes leading to the evaporator in the rear heating and air conditioning unit.
- Clean bonding surface on body with cleaning fluidD 009 401 04. [Note: Double-sided adhesive tape is used to affix the bracket (G) to the bottom panel of the centre tunnel. As a result, the retainer can be left in position when removing the rear heater and air conditioning unit, and the heat shield of the centre tunnel does not need to be removed in order to install the rear heater and air conditioning unit.]
- Clean the refrigerant line connections at the connection for the evaporator pipes (D) in the rear heater and air conditioning unit and at refrigerant lines (A, B) and check for damage.
- Renew O-rings (C), refer to Electronic parts catalogue for correct version.
- Lubricate O-rings lightly with refrigerant oil before installing Refrigerant circuit seals.
- Pay attention to correct positioning of the O-rings on the connections of the refrigerant lines (A, B).
- Insert the refrigerant lines (A, B) in the connections for the evaporator pipes (D).
- Slowly remove the protective film (F) from the strips of adhesive tape.
- Affix bracket (G) to bottom panel of centre tunnel.
- Insert and tighten the hexagon nut (H).
- Fit the rear expansion valve Removing and installing rear expansion valve .
- After attaching, check routing of refrigerant lines. They must be inserted tension-free in the brackets provided and should not make contact with other components.
- Evacuate and charge refrigerant circuit Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a87Refrigerant circuit.
- Re-install remaining components (removed earlier).
- Interrogate the event memory of the front air conditioner operating and display unit E87 and erase any faults displayed in "“Guided Fault Finding”" mode.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
