Don't miss
- Danger from the escape of pressurised refrigerant.Frostbite on skin and other parts of the body.Only unfasten the screws on the joints after discharging the refrigerant circuit. — Switch off ignition.
- Seal off open connections in the lines at the connection point using clean plugs, e.g. from engine bung setVAS 6122.
- Make sure that the support ring (G) is correctly positioned and check the grommet in the back wall of the plenum chamber for damage and proper installation.
- Observe fitting instructions for O-rings Refrigerant circuit seals.
- Lubricate O-rings lightly with refrigerant oil before installing Refrigerant circuit seals.

- Discharge refrigerant circuit Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a87Refrigerant circuit.
- Remove strut bar (D)Running gear, axles, steering40Spring strut, axle strut (top); Removing and installing strut bar.
- Detach bottom plenum chamber bulkhead (E) from vehicle and move to one side (do not remove) General body repairs, exterior50Bulkhead; Exploded view - bulkhead.
- Unscrew nut (A), tightening torque Exploded view - refrigerant lines in plenum chamber and expansion valve (front).
- Remove both refrigerant lines (B, C) from front expansion valve (D)Detaching and re-attaching refrigerant lines from front expansion valve. [Note: Seal off open connections in the lines at the connection point using clean plugs, e.g. from engine bung setVAS 6122.]
- Make sure that the support ring (G) is correctly positioned and check the grommet in the back wall of the plenum chamber for damage and proper installation.
- Thoroughly clean all the connections in the expansion valve (D) and at the refrigerant lines (B) and (C) and check for damage.
- Replace the O-rings (E) and (F); for correct version, refer to Electronic parts catalogue. [Note: Observe fitting instructions for O-rings Refrigerant circuit seals.]
- Lubricate O-rings lightly with refrigerant oil before installing Refrigerant circuit seals.
- Make sure the O-rings are correctly positioned in the grooves of the refrigerant line connections at the refrigerant lines (B) and (C).
- Tighten nuts (A) for refrigerant lines (B) and (C).
- After attaching, check routing of refrigerant lines. They must be inserted tension-free in the brackets provided and should not make contact with other components.
- Install bottom plenum chamber bulkhead (E)General body repairs, exterior50Bulkhead; Exploded view - bulkhead.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
