Removing and installing inner door seal: Audi R8

Step-by-step removing and installing inner door seal for the Audi R8: 22 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

Renewing the inner door seal on the Audi platform codes listed below is a bonding job as much as a trim job. The A-pillar trim, side trim and B-pillar trim come off to expose the body flange, the retaining lugs are pulled off, and the moulding along the door window is warmed with a hot air blower so the adhesive bond separates without tearing. The old seal is pulled off the flange and out of the window guide, residual adhesive is removed, and the door bonding surface is cleaned, primed in one even stroke and left to flash off for 10 minutes. The new seal goes onto the flange in the numbered sequence, pressed on at each corner and pillar, the moulding is pushed under the window, the tape's protective film is peeled, and the whole length is rolled down.

🧭 Before you start

The A-pillar, side and B-pillar trims are removed first, then the retaining lugs pulled off and the moulding heated to separate its adhesive bond before the seal is pulled off the body flange and out of the window guide. Adhesive residue is removed and the bonding surface cleaned, primed and allowed to flash off for 10 minutes. The new seal is attached to the flange in the sequence 1 to 10, pressed on at the B-pillar top corner, roof frame rear and front, A-pillar and window guide, then the moulding is pushed under the window and the double-sided tape bonded to the body. The full length is finished with roller 3356.

Fits: Audi R8 (4S, 2015–)

Don't miss

  • Warm the moulding with the hot air blower before separating the bond; do not tear it cold.
  • Clean, then prime the bonding surface in one stroke and allow 10 minutes flash-off.
  • Fit the seal to the flange in the numbered sequence 1 to 10, not starting at an end.
  • Peel the protective film from the tape only when the moulding is positioned.
  • Roll the seal down over its entire length as the last step.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
