Removing and installing fuel pump G23, vehicles with 3.0 ltr. (V6) or 4.2 ltr. (V8) engine up to 05.2010 — AUDI
Removing and installing fuel pump G23, vehicles with 3.0 ltr. (V6) or 4.2 ltr. (V8) engine up to 05.2010 on Audi: 25 steps, engines BTR, BUG, BUN, CASA.
Removing the fuel pump G23 on the Audi Q7 4L (2005–2015) with the 3.0 V6 or 4.2 V8 engine up to 05.2010. The pump is part of the delivery unit in the left side of the tank and is reached from the second row: the left individual seat or the 2/3 bench section comes out, the carpet is cut along its perforation and folded back, and the flange cover is unbolted. With the locking ring undone, the flange is lifted out far enough to unplug its connectors and release the supply, suction-jet and fuel lines. The delivery unit is then turned 15° anticlockwise to free its quick-release fastener and lifted out, still containing fuel. Refitting is about every line clicking home, a new dry seal and at least 5 litres in the tank afterwards.
🧭 Before you start
Remove the left second-row seat, cut the carpet along its perforation and remove the flange cover. Unplug the flange, undo the locking ring, lift the flange and disconnect its connectors and the fuel lines. Turn the delivery unit 15° anticlockwise and lift it out. Insert the new unit, lock it 15° clockwise, reconnect the lines until they engage audibly, fit a new dry flange seal, refit the cover, retaining frame and seat, and put at least 5 litres of fuel in the tank.
Fits: Audi Q7 (4L, 2005–2015)
- Opens: fuel
- Renewed: seal
Don't miss
- Wear gloves when cutting the carpet along the perforation.
- The delivery unit still contains fuel when lifted out; keep it upright.
- Every fuel line must engage audibly on refit.
- Renew the flange seal and fit it dry.
- Put at least 5 litres of fuel in the tank after installation.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
