Removing and installing coolant pipe (rear left) - engine codes CAMA, CAMB, CAPA — AUDI
Removing and installing coolant pipe (rear left) - engine codes CAMA, CAMB, CAPA on Audi: 10 steps, engines CAMA, CAMB, CAPA, CCLA.
The rear left coolant pipe on the V6 TDI engines listed below (CAMA, CAMB, CAPA and related codes) runs close to the EGR hardware on the Audi A5 (8T, 2007–2016), A5 Cabriolet (8F) and A4 B8 (8K, 2007–2015). After draining the coolant, the connector on its bracket and the glow plug connector for cylinder 6 are unplugged, the left intermediate pipe is removed and the change-over valve N345 for the EGR cooler is lifted off its bracket. Bolts 3 and 4 and ball stud 2 then come out, the wiring harness is moved aside and the pipe is pulled off its hoses. The care points are the harness running along the pipe and the glow plug connector, both of which need to be refitted and routed exactly as found.
🧭 Before you start
Drain the coolant, unplug the bracket connector and the cylinder 6 glow plug connector, and remove the left intermediate pipe. Lift N345 off its bracket, remove bolts 3 and 4 and ball stud 2, move the harness clear and detach the pipe from the coolant hoses. Install in reverse, refit the intermediate pipe and fill with coolant.
Fits: Audi A5 (8T, 2007–2016), Audi A5 Cabriolet (8F), Audi A4 B8 (8K, 2007–2015)
- Opens: coolant
Don't miss
- Unplug the glow plug connector for cylinder 6 before moving the pipe, and reconnect it afterwards.
- Detach change-over valve N345 from its bracket rather than disconnecting its hoses.
- Route the wiring harness back along the pipe as it was originally.
- Ball stud 2 locates the pipe; refit it along with bolts 3 and 4.
- As general practice, bleed the cooling system fully after refilling a V6 diesel.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
