📋 Procedure

  1. ⚠ It is not permissible to empty the fuel tank with the fuel suction deviceVAS 5190 via the filler neck.If the fuel tank is emptied with the fuel suction deviceVAS 5190 via the filler neck, the non-return valve (arrow) will be damaged. — Do not switch ignition on.
  2. Release and pull off connector (5) of supplementary fuel pump V393 in engine compartment.
  3. Remove fuel tank .
  4. Remove fuel delivery unit and drain .
  5. Check strainer and clean if soiled.

  1. Use the fuel suction deviceVAS 5190 to completely empty the fuel tank via the fuel delivery unit.
  2. Install fuel delivery unit .
  3. Install fuel tank .
  4. Attach connector (5) to supplementary fuel pump V393 in engine compartment. [Note: In models where the fuel pump is activated when the door is opened, the fuel filter must be renewed.]
  5. Fill fuel tank with 5 litres of diesel fuel. Then, perform the function "“Bleeding fuel system”" in "“guided functions”".
  6. Fill fuel tank completely with diesel fuel.
  7. Perform road test.

  13. Check fuel tank for dirt and filings.
  14. If necessary, clean fuel tank.
  15. Replace high-pressure pump 23High-pressure pump: Removing and installing high-pressure pump.
  16. Remove metering unit of »old« high-pressure pump and check for filings.
  17. Renew all high-pressure components:
  18. Install fuel delivery unit .
  19. Install fuel tank .
  20. Renew fuel filter 19.
  21. Attach connector (5) to supplementary fuel pump V393 in engine compartment.
  22. Fill fuel tank with 5 litres of diesel fuel. Then, perform the function "“Bleeding fuel system”" in "“guided functions”".
  23. Fill fuel tank completely with diesel fuel.
  24. Perform road test.
