  • Renewed: sealing strip

Don't miss

  • Before installing window frame, adjuster element must always be in basic position.
  • A sealing strip must be bonded on flush (as shown) along window slot trim strip beneath flocking in area of mirror base at A-pillar.

  1. Always renew sealing strip if mirror base is removed.
  2. Detach protective film from sealing strip.
  3. Starting at (arrow b), bond on sealing strip as far as cutting point at front and shorten strip with scissors (arrow a).
  4. Insert window frame with door window (lowered half-way) in door shell.
  5. Screw in bolts (arrow 1) and (arrow 2) by hand.
  6. Loosen bolt (arrow 3).
  7. Fit door seal in window frame.
  8. Screw in rear bolt through door shell and secure window frame.
  9. Tighten bolt to 32 Nm. — 32 Nm (24 lb-ft)
  10. Close door, check angle of window frame with adjustment template in area of B-pillar and adjust if necessary .
  11. Screw in bolt (arrow) and check adjustment in area of A-pillar.
  12. If necessary, adjust window frame at A-pillar .
  13. Spacers up to max. 3 mm can be fitted between window frame and door shell (depending on assessment).
  14. Tighten bolt (arrow) to 32 Nm. — 32 Nm (24 lb-ft)
  15. Tighten fitted bolts (arrow 2) and (arrow 3) to 32 Nm. — 32 Nm (24 lb-ft)
  16. Tighten bolt (arrow 1) to 9 Nm. — 9 Nm (6.6 lb-ft)
  17. Insert bolt in adjuster element as shown in detail view.
  18. Slowly screw bolt into adjuster element.
  19. This causes top section of adjuster element to be unscrewed and adjusted automatically. [Note: Adjuster element must be renewed if top section of element is not unscrewed automatically.]
  20. To remove, pull adjuster element (2) out of door shell (1).
  21. To install, press adjuster element in basic position fully into top of door shell with retainers.
  22. When screwing on adjuster element, place finger on window frame and door panel as a check.
  23. Reason: Gap must not change while screwing on adjuster element.
  24. Secure window regulator rails (bottom); tighten to 6 Nm. — 6 Nm (4.4 lb-ft)
  25. Clip pins of cable drum (arrows a) for window regulator fully into door shell.
  26. Clip cable (1) into door shell (arrow b) to prevent rattling noises.
  27. Additionally secure door insulating mat at top with water-resistant fabric tape (e.g. D 004 350 A2) (arrow), as shown.
  28. By doing so, insulating mat cannot gradually become detached from door; otherwise there is a risk of draught.
  29. When bolt (5) is screwed in, top section (3) of adjuster element is unscrewed from bottom section (2), compensating for gap between window frame (4) and door shell (1).

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
