📋 Procedure

  1. Pull vacuum hose to actuator for intake manifold changeover (arrow) off at the intake manifold changeover valve (1). [Note: The actuator for the variable intake manifold change-over valve is integrated in the intake manifold and is not therefore visible from the outside.]
  2. Connect hand vacuum pump with accessoriesV.A.G 1390 to vacuum testerV.A.G 1368 connection B.
  3. Connect vacuum hose leading to actuator to vacuum testerV.A.G 1368 connection A.
  4. Set vacuum testerV.A.G 1368 to -A/B- position.
  5. Operate hand vacuum pump with accessoriesV.A.G 1390 several times. Build up vacuum to 500 millibars max.

  1. Vacuum must not drop.
  2. Renew upper part of intake manifold.
  3. Check switchover mechanism in the intake manifold for ease of movement.
  4. Remove intake manifold lower part.
  5. Repeat leak test on the vacuum actuator. Check whether intake manifold flap moves.
  6. Renew upper part of intake manifold.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.

Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
