Adjusting assembly mountings - all engine codes except CUKB, CXUA — AUDI

Adjusting assembly mountings - all engine codes except CUKB, CXUA on Audi: 11 steps, engines CJZA, CMBA, CPTA, CSSA.

Setting the assembly mountings on the Audi A3 (8V) and the other platform code listed below is done with the engine supported in its installed position, for all engine codes listed except CUKB and CXUA, which have their own procedure. The engine mounting bolts are swapped for new ones one at a time and run in finger-tight, then the battery tray comes out to reach the gearbox mounting, where the same is done. With all bolts loose, the engine and gearbox assembly is levered into position until the specified distances are met, the engine mounting is tightened, the edges of the gearbox support arm and gearbox support are checked for parallel, and the gearbox mounting is tightened. Doing the bolts one at a time keeps the unit located, and the parallel edges are the check that matters.

11 steps 12 engine codes

🧭 Before you start

Support the engine in its installed position. Renew the engine mounting bolts one by one and fit them finger-tight, then remove the battery tray, move the earth wire if fitted, and do the same at the gearbox mounting. Lever the assembly until the specified dimensions are reached, tighten the engine mounting, confirm the gearbox support arm and gearbox support edges run parallel, and tighten the gearbox mounting.

Fits: Audi A3 (8V, 2012–2020); platform code 85

Don't miss

  • Renew the mounting bolts one at a time so the assembly never loses its location.
  • Fit all new bolts finger-tight before adjusting the assembly position.
  • Support arm and gearbox support edges must be parallel before the gearbox mounting is tightened.
  • Engine codes CUKB and CXUA are not covered by this method.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
