Repairing threaded electrical connections
Special tools and workshop equipment required
Torque wrench
V.A.G 1331
Caution
Risk of damage!
Penetrating fluid, contact spray or grease etc. may not be used for threaded connections.
Missing adhesion in the threads may cause a torque excess and, therefore, the break of the threaded connection.
After cleaning, ensure that threaded connections are dry and bolt them together without applying lubricants.
Note
The grey sanding pads are suitable for light dirt and
“soft surfaces”
. The red sanding pads are suitable for heavy dirt and

Caution
Risk of corrosion!
If the tin coating is worn down to the copper layer, a galvanic cell may be produced which destroys metal and causes faulty repair.
The cleaning process of the threaded connection must be performed step by step and a visual check is necessary between the steps.
Fit adapter onto threaded connection and remove corrosion and dirt with circular motions.
Periodically check the progress of cleaning and clean further if necessary.
Tighten connection and (if necessary) anti-rotation tab to specified torque

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.

Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
