Workshop procedure for VW — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.
🧭 Before you start
Fits: VW Tiguan I (5N, 2007–2016), VW Golf VII Variant (BA), VW Passat B7 saloon (362, 2010–2014), VW Passat B7 Variant (365, 2010–2014), VW CC (358, 2012–2017), VW Golf VII (5G, 2012–2020)
- Opens: engine oil
- Special tools named: puller
Don't miss
- Unscrew right flange shaft bolt (arrow 1) using socket. To do this, screw 2 bolts into flange and counterhold flange shaft with an assembly lever.
- To remove right flange shaft, use puller T10037 to avoid damage to bearings of flange shaft.
- Use puller T10037 to remove the flange shaft to avoid damage to bearings of the flange shaft.
🔩 Torque settings
Values can differ between engine variants — check the code stamped on your block.
| Torque | Fastener / step |
|---|---|
| 100 Nm (74 lb-ft) | Turn (oil seal extractor) |
| 120 Nm (89 lb-ft) | Turn oil seal extractor |
ℹ️ Always cross-check the exact figure against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening — a wrong torque can damage the engine. These values are extracted from workshop data and may not cover every variant or revision.
📋 Procedure
- While vehicle is still standing on its wheels, loosen front right flange bolt (arrow) by a maximum of 90°, otherwise the wheel bearing will be damaged. Running gear, axles, steering40Drive shaft; Removing and installing drive shaft.
- Remove noise insulation General body repairs, exterior66Noise insulation; Assembly overview - noise insulation.
- If fitted, remove heat shield (A) for drive shaft (C)(arrows 1).

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
