🔩 Torque settings
Values can differ between engine variants — check the code stamped on your block.
| Torque | Fastener / step |
|---|---|
| 10 Nm (7.4 lb-ft) | Bolt sealing flange to cylinder block |
| 60 Nm (44 lb-ft) | Tighten new securing bolts |
ℹ️ Always cross-check the exact figure against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening — a wrong torque can damage the engine. These values are extracted from workshop data and may not cover every variant or revision.
📋 Procedure
- Remove poly V-belt .
- Remove vibration damper. To do this, lock vibration damper using counterhold T10172.
- Remove sump .
- Unbolt sealing flange.
- Remove remaining sealant from sealing surfaces. [Note: The supplied guide sleeve must not be removed before installation.]
- Remove oil residue from crankshaft journal using clean cloth.
- Cut off tube nozzle at forward marking (∅ of nozzle approx. 3 mm).
- Apply a bead of sealantD 176 501 A1 of about 2…3 mm as shown (arrows) to clean sealing surface of sealing flange. [Note: Before applying sealant bead, cover sealing ring with a clean cloth. The sealing compound bead must not be thicker that 2…3 mm. Otherwise excessive sealing compound will enter the sump and may block the oil suction pipe strainer.Observe expiry date of sealing compound. The sealing flange must be installed within 5 minutes after applying the silicone sealant.]
- Fit sealing flange (1) with guide sleeve of seal (2) on crankshaft journal.
- Slide sealing flange with seal carefully over guide sleeve.
- Bolt sealing flange to cylinder block. Specified torque: 10 Nm. — 10 Nm (7.4 lb-ft)
- Install sump . [Note: Renew securing bolts for vibration damper.]
- Install vibration damper and lock with counterhold T10172.
- Tighten new securing bolts to 60 Nm + 1/2 turn (180°) further. — 60 Nm (44 lb-ft)
- Install poly V-belt .

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
