Removing and installing
steering angle sensor
G85
on steering column
Carry out the following work:
Removing
Note
The
steering angle sender
G85
must be in its centred position when it is removed.
Steering wheel must be in the straight-ahead position.
Mark the centred position and fix in place with adhesive tape.
Ensure that the centred position is maintained.
Turn wheels to straight-ahead position.
Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
Remove steering wheel with airbag

WARNING
The following conditions must be met before starting work on the electrical system and removing the steering wheel:
Disconnect earth strap from battery
Electrical system

Battery; Disconnecting and reconnecting the battery

Wheels must be in straight-ahead position.
Failure to comply with these precautions may lead to subsequent failure of the airbag system!
Remove steering column trim

Release and pull off connectors

Unscrew threaded connections

steering angle sender

Remove
steering angle sender
G85
from steering column.
Installing
Install in reverse order. Note the following points:
Note
The
steering angle sender
G85
must be in its centred position in order to install it.
If a new
steering angle sender
G85
is installed, the transport protection must be removed after the sender has been firmly mounted on the steering column.
Set
steering angle sender
G85
1
in position and tighten bolts

uniformly.
After the
steering angle sender
G85
has been installed, a reset must be carried out.
To do this, use the
vehicle diagnosis system, testing and information system
VAS 50xx
.
