Removing and installing master cylinder - Touran with clutch position sender G476 (from 06.03) — VW
Removing and installing master cylinder - Touran with clutch position sender G476 (from 06.03) on VW: 9 steps.
On the Touran I (1T) built from 06.03 with clutch position sender G476, the clutch master cylinder clips into a mounting bracket rather than bolting to the bulkhead, so most of the effort is getting to it. The mounting bracket comes out first. The retainer on the operating rod is then released from the clutch pedal with pliers T10005, a spacer is put between pedal and stop and the pedal pressed against it, which takes the load off the cylinder. The securing bar is released and the cylinder pulled out of the bracket. Fitting is the reverse: retainer onto the rod, pedal back on the spacer, cylinder engaged in the bracket and the rod pushed in until the retainer clicks. That audible click is the check that matters.
🧭 Before you start
Remove the mounting bracket and release the operating rod retainer with pliers T10005. With the spacer between clutch pedal and stop and the pedal pressed to it, release the securing bar and pull the master cylinder out of its bracket. To refit, attach the retainer to the rod, engage the cylinder in the bracket with the pedal on the spacer, press the rod in until the retainer engages audibly, then refit the bracket.
Fits: VW Touran I (1T, 2003–2015)
Don't miss
- Use pliers T10005 to release the retainer; prising it can break the clip.
- Fit spacer (A) and press the pedal against it for both removal and installation.
- Push the operating rod in until the retainer engages audibly in the clutch pedal.
- Check clutch release and bleed the hydraulics if they were opened, as general practice.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
