Removing and installing fuse holder BSB on left in dash panel — VW

Removing and installing fuse holder BSB on left in dash panel on VW: 4 steps, 1 torque figure. What to remove, what to tighten and to how many Nm, what to.

The fuse holder BSB on the Polo 6R (2009–2014) sits on the left of the dash panel behind the fuse box cover, and the factory steps for it are short. The battery is disconnected first, following the full disconnect and reconnect procedure rather than just pulling the clamp, because the holder feeds live circuits. The fuse box cover comes off, then the footwell light, which is in the way. The holder is held by securing bolts tightened to 4 Nm; once they are out the holder is guided out towards the cabin as far as the wiring loom lets it move, which is enough to work on the fuses and connectors behind it without unpinning anything. Refitting runs the other way, with the bolts back to the same 4 Nm.

4 steps 1 torque figure

🧭 Before you start

Disconnect the battery following the prescribed procedure. Remove the fuse box cover and the footwell light. Take out the securing bolts and guide the fuse holder out towards the interior as far as the wiring allows. Refit in reverse and tighten the securing bolts to 4 Nm.

Fits: VW Polo 6R (2009–2014)

Don't miss

  • Battery disconnect and reconnect must follow the workshop manual procedure exactly.
  • Footwell light comes out before the holder will move.
  • Securing bolts: 4 Nm.
  • The holder only comes out as far as the wiring allows; do not force it or unpin wires.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
