Removing and installing front door window: VW Touran II
Step-by-step removing and installing front door window for the VW Touran II: 13 steps, 3 torque figures.
Taking the front door glass out of the Touran II (5T) is done through the door with the trim panel, inner window slot seal and door inner cover removed. The window is lowered until its locking hooks show in the access opening; if the regulator motor has failed, the motor can be taken off so the glass can be pushed to the working position by hand. The hooks are pressed through the opening while the glass is lifted slightly so it does not drop back into them, then the glass is lifted out of the regulator and swung forwards out of its channels. Refitting is a matter of seating the glass in the channels without force, aligning it with the rear frame and pressing it until the retaining hooks click, then testing before closing up the door.
🧭 Before you start
Remove the door trim, inner slot seal, inner cover and cable feed. Lower the glass until the locking hooks are accessible, press them through while lifting the glass slightly, lift it out of the regulator and swing it forwards out of the channels. Refit into the channels, guide it without force into the regulator mounting, align with the rear frame and press it in until the retaining hooks engage. Run a functional test before refitting the cover, cable feed and trim.
Fits: VW Touran II (5T, 2015–)
Don't miss
- If the regulator motor is dead, remove the motor to move the glass by hand.
- Lift the glass slightly while freeing the hooks so it does not catch again.
- Seat the glass in the window channel properly before guiding it into the regulator.
- Bolts on this door are 8 Nm where your version specifies them.
- Test window operation before the inner cover and trim go back on.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
