📋 Procedure

  1. Remove lower timing chain cover .
  2. ⚠ Danger of damage to drive chain due to excessively long bolt thread. In order to bolt the socket on T40049, it is only permissible to use bolts with a maximum thread length (a) of 22 mm.If only longer bolts are available, washers must be placed under each bolt head so that the remaining thread length is only 22 mm at most. — Mount socket T40049on rear of crankshaft with 2 bolts (arrows).
  3. Unscrew sealing plug (arrow) for "“TDC”"; (crankshaft mark), from cylinder block.
  4. Using adapter T40058 and cranked ring spanner, turn the crankshaft in direction of engine rotation (arrow) to "“TDC”".
  5. Screw locking pin T40069 into hole (20 Nm); if necessary, turn crankshaft (1) backwards and forwards slightly to fully centre locking pin. — 20 Nm (15 lb-ft)

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
