- Renew deformed pipe clamps.
- During assembly, pipe clamps (A) must turn easily on coolant pipes.
- Pipe clamps (A) must be installed as shown in diagram.
🔩 Torque settings
Values can differ between engine variants — check the code stamped on your block.
| Torque | Fastener / step |
|---|---|
| 2 Nm (1.5 lb-ft) | Tighten bolt (1) from flange between heat exchanger connections |
| 2 Nm (1.5 lb-ft) | Tighten bolt (1) of flange between heat exchanger connections |
| 2 Nm (1.5 lb-ft) | Tighten pipe clamps (A) |
ℹ️ Always cross-check the exact figure against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening — a wrong torque can damage the engine. These values are extracted from workshop data and may not cover every variant or revision.
📋 Procedure
- Remove heater unit to enable replacement of coolant pipes from engine compartment to heat exchanger .
- Unscrew bolt (1) on flange between heat exchanger connections.
- Removing temperature flap control motor V68.
- Removing left temperature flap control motor V158.
- Remove screws (A) and take off cover (B).
- Open pipe clamps (A) and pull coolant pipes out of heat exchanger.
- Moisten seals (1) with coolant before installing.
- Seat seals (1) into unions on heat exchanger. [Note: Ensure that seals are installed in the proper direction as shown in figure.Renew deformed pipe clamps.]
- Connect coolant pipes to heat exchanger.
- Seals (1) must always be renewed. Moisten seals (1) with coolant before installing. [Note: Renew deformed pipe clamps.]
- During assembly, pipe clamps (A) must turn easily on coolant pipes.
- Pipe clamps (A) must be installed as shown in diagram.
- Tighten pipe clamps (A) to 2 Nm. — 2 Nm (1.5 lb-ft)
- Check seating of both clips (A) after tightening screws. They must fully enclose the flange on the heat exchanger and the coolant pipe and they must not contact other components.
- Tighten bolt (1) from flange between heat exchanger connections to 2 Nm. — 2 Nm (1.5 lb-ft)

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
