Removing and installing aerial modules and aerial amplifiers, Saloon — VW

Removing and installing aerial modules and aerial amplifiers, Saloon on VW: 12 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.

The Passat saloon (362/365, 2010–2014) carries its aerial modules and amplifiers on the rear window, behind the end trim of the headliner. Each module is reached the same way: the headliner end trim comes off, the connectors are released and pulled, the retaining clips on both sides are detached and the module lifted away. Depending on position there may be four, one or a single different connector to deal with. The work itself is light; the risk is reception faults afterwards. The spring contacts on the module must not be bent and must be clean, and the same goes for the contact surfaces on the rear glass, so handle the module by its body and keep fingers off the contact areas.

12 steps

🧭 Before you start

Remove the end trim of the moulded headliner at the rear window, release and pull off the module connectors, detach the retaining clips on both sides and carefully lift the aerial module off. Repeat for the other modules as required. When refitting, check that the contacts are clean and straight, clip the module in and refit the connectors and headliner trim, then check radio reception.

Fits: VW Passat B7 saloon (362, 2010–2014), VW Passat B7 Variant (365, 2010–2014)

Don't miss

  • Do not bend the contacts on the aerial module.
  • Contacts and the rear window contact surfaces must be clean to avoid reception problems.
  • Release connector locks before pulling; do not pull on the wires.
  • Check all radio bands for reception once the trim is back on.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
