📋 Procedure

ℹ️ Torque figures below come verbatim from workshop data — always cross-check against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening.

From gearbox date 03 01 9 the location and bearings of the gearshift shaft were modified:

Location of gearshift shaft
Formerly: The gearshift shaft 1 was located by a ball detent.

NEW:

The gearshift shaft 1 is located by the locating screw 2 via the detent element 3.

The locating screw is installed instead of the previous dog point screw. The threaded hole in the gearbox housing has been altered to suit the larger thread diameter of the locating screw.

Tightening torque : 20 Nm

Note:

Before fitting the locating screw, two threads should be coated with sealing compound AMV 188 200 03.

Bearings of gearshift shaft

Formerly: Bushes

New:

Ball sleeve bearing. The gearshift shaft is mounted in the end cover 4 and in the gearbox housing in the ball sleeves 5 and 6.

Fitting position - fig. 4

The oil deflector plate 7 and the spring 8 have been altered to suit the modified bearings of the gearshift shaft in the end cover. Location Fig.5 and 6

The oil seal 9 has also been matched to the modified bearings of the gearshift shaft in the gearbox housing. Location Fig.7

Removal: Lever out with release lever 681.

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
