Installing rear final drive 02D or 0AV: VW Passat B6 (BWS, CBRA, CDLC, CDLF, …)
Step-by-step installing rear final drive 02D or 0AV for the VW Passat B6: 20 steps. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
Refitting the rear final drive (02D or 0AV) on the four-wheel-drive Passat B6 (2005–2010), platform code 3C2. The unit goes up on a transmission jack with the universal support and a strap holding it, the rear bonded rubber mountings are guided over the anti-roll bar, and the drive shafts are lined up as you push the casing left and right before it settles on the subframe. Two things decide it: the plates under the rear mountings, which must be in place with the chamfer facing upwards, and the two bolts fed through the luggage compartment floor, which must be new. Everything else that came off — cross member, drive shafts, propshaft, heat shield and exhaust — goes back afterwards.
🧭 Before you start
The final drive is raised on a transmission jack, threaded over the anti-roll bar and set on the subframe with its rear plates in place. The rear mountings are secured from inside the luggage compartment with new bolts, the holes are plugged and the trim refitted, then the front bolts are tightened. Connector, breather lines, cross member, drive shafts, propshaft, heat shield and exhaust follow, with the exhaust aligned free of tension.
Fits: VW Passat B6 (3C, 2005–2010)

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
