Step-by-step installing mechatronics for the VW Golf IV / Bora: 11 steps, 2 torque figures. What to remove, what to tighten and to how many Nm, what to.
Workshop procedure for VW — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.
🧭 Before you start
Fits: VW Golf IV / Bora (1J)
Don't miss
- Never lift mechatronics on “sender arm” or lay it on arm. — Before installation, make certain that gearbox input speed sender G182 with oil temperature sender in multi-plate clutch G509 is installed.
- Carefully set mechatronics on (dowel pins). Ensure that “sender arm” locates in its (fitting position).
🔩 Torque settings
Values can differ between engine variants — check the code stamped on your block.
| Torque | Fastener / step |
|---|---|
| 10 Nm (7.4 lb-ft) | Tighten cover bolts “diagonally” |
| 5 Nm (3.7 lb-ft) | Then tighten all 10 (bolts) diagonally |
ℹ️ Always cross-check the exact figure against your vehicle's factory manual before final tightening — a wrong torque can damage the engine. These values are extracted from workshop data and may not cover every variant or revision.
📋 Procedure
- ⚠ Never lift mechatronics on “sender arm” or lay it on arm. — Before installation, make certain that gearbox input speed sender G182 with oil temperature sender in multi-plate clutch G509 is installed.
- Renew both (seals) and connection for mechatronics.
- Moisten O-rings with DSG oil.
- Carefully set mechatronics on (dowel pins). Ensure that “sender arm” locates in its (fitting position).

- Then tighten all 10 (bolts) diagonally to 5 Nm and then turn 90° further in the same sequence. Start with bolt (1). — 5 Nm (3.7 lb-ft)
- First press wiring for gearbox input speed sender G182 with oil temperature sender in multi-plate clutch G509 into clip (II). Then into clip (I).
- Press connection onto mechatronics.
- Tighten cover bolts “diagonally” to 10 Nm. — 10 Nm (7.4 lb-ft)
- Fill with oil without renewing filter .

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
