and rectify faults.
Check wiring to solenoid valves according to Current flow diagram.
The solenoid valves can be checked whilst driving via "read measured value block 08"; "display group number 04".
V.A.G 1551 display zone 1 is 6 figures (0000 00) and is read as follows:
Display field 1:
Display 1 · Display 2 · Display 3 · Display 4 · Display 5 · Display 6
-N88- · -N89- · -N90- · -N91- · -N92- · -N94-
not switched · 0 · 0 · 0 · 0 · 0 · 0
switched · 1 · 1 · 1 · 1 · 1 · 1
The table shows the solenoid valves -N88-, -N89-, -N90- and -N91- controlled in each selector lever position. These solenoid valves control the switching valves to the relevant gears.
During gear changes, control of the solenoid valves may vary from the following table for a short period.
The solenoid valves -N92- and -N94- are supplementary valves which affect selection changes and are only controlled during gear changes and displayed in zones 5 and 6.
On gearboxes up to 12.92 the activation of the solenoid valves will be briefly different to that described in the table when shifting from 3H - 3M and from 4 - 3M.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
