🧭 Before you start

Fits: platform codes 1H1, 1H2

Don't miss

  • Switch on ignition (do not start engine)
  • To check connection hose, connect aforementioned component to vacuum testerV.A.G 1368 with hose.
  • Switching ignition on and off can cause brief build-up of vacuum (pointer deflection).

📋 Procedure

  1. Switch on ignition (do not start engine)
  2. Change gear several times until vacuum pump V22 starts up.
  3. Move selector lever to neutral.
  4. If necessary, check connecting hoses between vacuum pipes and to individual components are correctly seated.
  5. If necessary, check hose clips are correctly seated.

  1. Before checking individual components, check hose connections are correctly seated.
  2. Remove vacuum switch
  3. Connect vacuum switch to hand multimeterV.A.G 1368 with vacuum testerV.A.G 1594/23 and via adapter for travel sensorV.A.G 1526D.
  4. Connect hand operated vacuum pumpV.A.G 1390 to vacuum tester.
  5. Close upper valve.
  6. Switch vacuum testerV.A.G 1368 to continuity
  7. Set measuring range of hand multimeterV.A.G 1526D to continuity check. [Note: To check connection hose, connect aforementioned component to vacuum testerV.A.G 1368 with hose.]
  8. Remove pressure switch .
  9. Connect pressure switch to hand multimeterV.A.G 1368 with vacuum testerV.A.G 1594/23 and via adapter for travel sensorV.A.G 1526D.
  10. Connect hand operated vacuum pumpV.A.G 1390 to vacuum testerV.A.G 1368.
  11. Close upper valve.
  12. Switch vacuum testerV.A.G 1368 to continuity (lower valve).
  13. Set measuring range of hand multimeterV.A.G 1526D to continuity check. [Note: To check connection hose, connect aforementioned component to vacuum testerV.A.G 1368 with hose.]
  14. Pull priority switching valve out of bracket on bulkhead and pull off hose or wiring connections.
  15. Connect connection for clutch circuit or brake circuit on priority switching valve to vacuum testerV.A.G 1368.
  16. Connect hand operated vacuum pumpV.A.G 1390 to vacuum tester.
  17. Close upper valve.
  18. Switch vacuum testerV.A.G 1368 to continuity (lower valve).
  19. Before checking connection for brake circuit, close connection for clutch circuit using a sealing cap (A). [Note: To check connection hose, connect aforementioned component to vacuum testerV.A.G 1368 with hose.]
  20. Connect connection for clutch circuit or brake circuit on vacuum reservoir to vacuum testerV.A.G 1368 (shown here on clutch circuit).
  21. Connect hand operated vacuum pumpV.A.G 1390 to vacuum tester.
  22. Close upper valve.
  23. Switch vacuum testerV.A.G 1368 to continuity (lower valve).
  24. Start check on hose connection for vacuum pump V22
  25. Remove hose connections from vacuum pump V22 and clutch actuator.
  26. Dismantle vacuum pipes and hose connections at individual connections and seal with plugs.
  27. Perform check with hand operated vacuum pumpV.A.G 1390 and vacuum testerV.A.G 1368.
  28. Use adapter from hand operated vacuum pumpV.A.G 1390.
  29. Close upper valve of vacuum testerV.A.G 1368.
  30. Switch vacuum testerV.A.G 1368 to continuity (lower valve).
  31. Use vacuum pump V22.
  32. Close upper valve.
  33. Set vacuum testerV.A.G 1368 to pos. (A) or pos. (B) (lower valve).
  34. Establish hose connection from connection (A) or (B) to clutch circuit.
  35. Switch on ignition (do not start engine)
  36. Switch on vacuum pump V22 using driver door contact switch F2 or switch and disengaging 1st gear (if it does not start up automatically).
  37. Break vacuum (open upper valve slowly).
  38. Use vacuum testerV.A.G 1368.
  39. Close upper valve.
  40. Set vacuum testerV.A.G 1368 to pos. (A) or pos. (B) (lower valve).
  41. Establish hose connection from connection (A) or (B) to clutch actuator breather valve N184.
  42. Switch on ignition (do not start engine). Vacuum pump V22 starts up when vacuum in system is too low. [Note: Switching ignition on and off can cause brief build-up of vacuum (pointer deflection).]

Who makes these pages, and how

TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.

The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.

Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.

Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
