Checking charge pressure control — VW
Checking charge pressure control on VW: 27 steps, engines AJH, AMF, AWC. What to remove, in what order, and what to check after.
Workshop procedure for VW — the exact step sequence and torque figures, straight from real workshop data.
🧭 Before you start
Fits: platform code 6N1
- Renewed: if necessary, turbocharger
Don't miss
- Connect fault readerV.A.G 1551 and select engine electronics control unit with "“address word 01”". Engine must be idling.
- Faults are stored by separating the connector on charge pressure control solenoid valve N75. Therefore read and erase fault memory.

📋 Procedure
- The charge pressure is measured with fault readerV.A.G 1551 during a road test.
- Pull connector (2) off charge pressure control solenoid valve N75(1).
- Connect fault readerV.A.G 1551 and select engine electronics control unit with "“address word 01”". Engine must be idling.
- Press buttons 0 and 8 for function "“Read measured value block”" and confirm entry with Q button.
- Press buttons 0, 1 and 1 for "“display group number 11”" and confirm entry with Q button.
- Indicated on display:
- Accelerate vehicle in 3rd gear from approx. 1500 rpm using full throttle.
- At approx. 3000 rpm, press PRINT button.
- Check vacuum unit for charge pressure control valve, renew if necessary.
- Check vacuum hoses .
- Repeat charge pressure test.
- Renew turbocharger.
- Check charge pressure control solenoid valve N75. (Hose from turbocharger via valve to vacuum unit not blocked when connector is pulled off).
- Check vacuum hoses .
- Check vacuum unit for charge pressure control valve and operating rod, renew if necessary.
- Check charge pressure control valve shaft mounting in turbocharger for ease of movement. If corroded (seized), renew turbocharger.
- If measured charge pressure is OK, repeat charge pressure test with charge pressure control:
- Charge pressure control solenoid valve N75 connector fitted. [Note: Faults are stored by separating the connector on charge pressure control solenoid valve N75. Therefore read and erase fault memory.]
- Read fault memory .
- Connect fault readerV.A.G 1551 and select engine electronics control unit with "“address word 01”". Engine must be idling.
- Press buttons 0 and 8 for function "“Read measured value block”" and confirm entry with Q button.

Who makes these pages, and how
TorqFix was built by a mechanic — after a 2,700 km drive with five roadside repairs that no diagnostic tool could explain.
The figures on this page come from manufacturer workshop documentation and are shown as they are. The page is assembled automatically from that data — it is not written by an AI. The AI works in the chat, where it answers for your specific car. It writes nothing here.
Variants of the same model differ. Cross-check torque against the factory manual for your engine before final tightening.
Seen a figure that does not match your manual? Write to us — we correct it and note when. support@torqfix.com
